Current Skincare Routine
One of my New Year’s resolutions was to take care of my skin and go for the glow. One of my skin-spirations has to be blogger and Youtuber, Anna, from The Anna Edit. Her skin is always on point and when she wears makeup, it seems to glide on like a dream.
So I have been trying out some products and loving them so far. I don’t buy many products, and I have a rule for myself–I can’t buy another product until I have used up a current item (unless my skin reacts terribly to it). I have been using these same skincare items everyday for the last two months, and I’m very happy with the results.
Serum– Glossier Super Pure Serum. This serum is meant to calm and soothe redness and breakout-prone skin. I use this right after I cleanse my face with my favorite Neutrogena cleanser (not pictured). I apply 2-3 drops mostly to my cheeks, where I tend to have more breakouts and redness. I have seen a reduction of redness and breakouts since using this product, but what I’m impressed with more is how fast my breakouts go away. I still get breakouts (thanks hormones, and my love for wavy Lays), but they seem to not be as big and angry as they usually are.
Moisturizer- Belif Moisturizing Bomb. I loved this moisturizer and will absolutely be repurchasing it. The name says it all, this moisturizer provides intense hydration but without it feeling heavy on the skin. I also really enjoyed the light and fresh scent that contributes to a cooling affect on the skin. I apply this after my serum, morning and night.
Eye Cream– Youth to the People Superfood Peptide Eye Cream. If I’m going to have this under eye baggage (thanks night shift), might as well hydrate it, right? I have never tried an under eye cream before, but I have really been enjoying this step in my skincare routine. I also appreciate that this product is 100 percent vegan. Once this product runs out, I think I will be trying a different eye cream just to compare.
Lip Balm– Glossier Balm Dotcom (not pictured). The Balm Dotcom is my absolute favorite lip balm. It seems like a super simple product, but it gets the job done. I have the original, un-tinted, un-scented one. If I want some color and a little bit more shimmer, I use the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Rose. I don’t really use lipstick, so if I crave a little color, this is what I apply.
Face Mist– Caudalie Beauty Elixir. Ok, I’m going to say it: this item is a bit extra, but it makes me feel fancy, and I love it. It’s a toning mist used to reduce dullness by adding instant radiance to your skin. It can also be used to set makeup, but I haven’t used it for that yet. I spray this all over my face as the last step in my skincare routine. The scent is so refreshing and this product makes my skin appear extremely dewy. I’m actually pretty obsessed with this product (bye all my money).
**Skincare products can be pretty expensive, so a tip I have for you is to buy the mini size of a product to try it out. If you look at my picture above, most of my products are mini. Once I have tried something out and love it, I will buy the full size or even move on to try something else.
New Year’s Resolutions
Can you believe how fast 2018 went by?! I hope you all had a great year. Kevin and I had quite a year – full of many spontaneous changes. At the beginning of 2018, we decided that we wanted to move closer to our families. And let me tell y’all, it was so scary, but we did it, and we are so glad we did. Life is too short to not do what makes us happy or let fear hold us back.
Now with this new year beginning, we are excited to see what’s to come. Many of the changes we made in 2018 were to set us up for a better 2019. So I’m sitting down and thinking about all the things I want for the new year. Kevin is not into New Year’s resolutions, but I sure am. And I thought I would share.
My New Year’s Resolutions:
- Hustle less for money, hustle more for joy: We will always want or need more money. It seems like all there is to do in life is work to pay bills, and well, that doesn’t seem like a life well lived. This year, I want to make life more about experiences and spending more time with family and friends. Yes, work is necessary, but it’s not all I’m here to do.
- Travel More: Last year, Kevin and I were unable to travel. With the mortgage payment and all the bills, the only logical thing to do was to just work and work and work. This year, we hope to visit a couple of places. First on the list: Nashville, Tennessee or Colorado.
- It’s all about skincare: I’m a little-to-no makeup kind of girl, but that doesn’t work when I don’t take care of my skin. So this year, I’m investing on the skincare. I’m after the glow and living out Glossier’s motto: “Skincare first, makeup second.”
- Drink more water: I hate to admit this, but I go days without drinking water. And, well, that just needs to change. My kidneys and skin will thank me for it too!
- & last but not least, to Simplify: When moving from our house to our apartment, Kevin and I noticed we have too many things that we didn’t need. This year, I would like to really think about what I buy. It’s more about quality vs. quantity.
And there they are, my new year’s resolutions. Cheers to a wonderful 2019 and I hope it’s full of many blessings.
