Graduating (again!)
Although I have been a registered nurse for over 3 years now, I recently graduated from Texas A&M University with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. I moved to Aggieland to attend nursing school at Blinn College, where I received my Associate Degree in Nursing in 2014. I knew after graduating, passing my NCLEX, and starting my first job as a registered nurse, that I had to go back to school for my Bachelor’s. However, it took two years for me to finally force myself to go back to school. By this time, I was head over heels for Texas A&M and a sweet Aggie boy that had taught me all about the great traditions of this university. So, there was no debate on which program I was to apply.
Fifteen months later, here I am with my degree in hand and this sexy piece of gold on my finger as a symbol of my accomplishments. Although I didn’t go the traditional route towards my Bachelor degree, there are a lot of beautiful things that wouldn’t have happened if my path had not brought me to College Station, TX. I met the man who supported me mentally, emotionally, and physically through, not just one, but two nursing programs and I have had the honor to meet and work with great nurses who are now my best friends.
As my husband and I make plans to move from this sweet, sweet place, I can’t help but get tearful in thinking back to how I got here and how much I have accomplished. Man, aren’t God’s plans just perfect?
So wherever we may go, “We are the Aggies, the Aggies are we.”
Thanks & Gig ’em, Aggieland!
Summer-ready hair
I recently got my hair cut and colored at the Salon by Milk + Honey at the Arboretum and I had a wonderful experience. Every couple of years, I like to make a change to my hair and it was time to do so. I’m super lazy when it comes to actually taking time to do my hair and I usually just put it up in a bun and out I go. But I knew that a haircut was long overdue when my husband courageously told me that he didn’t like my bun (gasp)!
So I booked an appointment with Kacie, and guys, she did not disappoint. She snipped all my hair off, did her balayage magic, and I walked out feeling like a new person. Now if I could only have her style it this perfectly everyday. And as for my husband, he is loving my short hair and he is extremely glad that the “bird’s nest” is finally gone.
If you are ready for a transformation just in time for summer, I would highly recommend Kacie at the Salon by Milk + Honey in the Arboretum.
Hello there- Why I’m starting a blog.
I can’t believe I’m actually starting a blog (insert the excited and ‘I wanna throw up’ emoji here). If you ask my husband, he can tell you that I have been talking about this for over a year now, and I am finally going for it. Sharing more about myself has been a goal of mine for a while, but gosh, why is it so hard? Many would say that I’m a very shy and quiet person, but I am not always that way. My people-pleasing mindset and the fear of vulnerability has really kept me from doing a lot of things that I would like. My goal as I get older is to open myself up to new adventures and to live a joyful life around the people I love and those who bring out the best in me.
So to continue on with the introduction, here are a few interesting facts about myself:
- I’m 27 years old.
- I’m married to the sweetest man around.
- I’m a registered nurse and have been for over 3 years now.
- I live in College Station, TX, but my husband and I are hoping to move to Georgetown, TX in the next month.
- I’m super short, 4′ 11″, to be exact (and I get reminded that I’m short everyday by random people).
- I’m obsessed with our 9 month-old chi-weenie, Rocket (don’t worry I’ll post tons of pics of her so you can swoon too).
- My first time on a plane was only three years ago, and it was to New York City. I’ve flown several times since then, and I can’t do it enough. If I had the money, I’d travel non-stop.
- I’m a graduate of Texas A&M University. Whoop!
- I’m a Mexican-American, raised in a predominantly Mexican household until I moved away for college. This has lead me to be able to sniff out a store-bought tortilla from a mile away.
- And finally, I’m an unintentional plant killer. There, I said it. But my inner Joanna Gaines will not let me give up. To my husband’s dismay, I will continue to buy ALL the plants.
